Ben Sones is a trusted adviser to community banks and a partner at Sones & White, a leading CDFI consultancy specializing in strategic planning, grant writing, and compliance services. He is a frequent lecturer on community development and regulatory matters for many banker groups, including the Alabama Bankers Association, the Louisiana Bankers Association, and the Mississippi Bankers Association. Sones & White is an active participant in the Community Development Bankers Association and in seven different state banking associations.
Ben is a native of Brookhaven, Miss., and is from a banking family. He worked in his hometown’s locally owned community bank in high school and college. He began his legal career in Nashville, Tenn., after graduating from Vanderbilt University Law School, but later moved back home to Mississippi to practice banking law with a large law firm before establishing his own consulting and legal practices, ultimately forming Sones & White Law Firm and Sones & White Consulting.
Ben and his wife Estelle reside in Ridgeland, Miss. They have four children and are active members of Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church.
