Rachelle James Gregory has more than 20 years of experience in brand strategy, marketing, and community impact leadership. She serves as chief impact officer and vice president of marketing for Carver Financial Corp., the holding company for Carver State Bank in Savannah, Ga., and BHM Bank in Birmingham, Ala. She leads brand strategy, community engagement, impact measurement, corporate communications, and strategic initiatives that advance the organization's mission of providing the building blocks to financial freedom.
Rachelle plays a key role in shaping and documenting the measurable community impact of Carver's work as a community development financial institution and minority depository institution. She oversees the tracking, analysis, and reporting of the bank's community development outcomes to support strategic growth, regulatory engagement, public-private partnerships, and mission-driven storytelling. She also helped lead brand and integration strategy following Carver Financial's expansion into Birmingham, making it the only Black-owned multibank holding company in the U.S.
She currently leads strategic initiatives surrounding Carver's 100th anniversary, positioning the institution's centennial as both a celebration of legacy and a platform for future growth and community impact.
Prior to joining Carver, Rachelle founded StreamView Consulting, where she advised clients across the entertainment, retail, and sports industries on research-driven brand and marketing strategy. Clients included Warner Media/Turner Broadcasting, Viacom, Disney, Discovery Inc., Tiffany & Co., the NBA, and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Earlier, she worked in marketing research at Nielsen and as a marketing strategist for Turner Broadcasting.
Rachelle and her family made the decision to return home to Savannah after five years abroad — and with that return came a shift in purpose. She joined Carver Financial, a family-led institution, to put her national expertise to work building something more meaningful than any client engagement could offer.
Rachelle is deeply engaged in civic and cultural leadership in Savannah. She serves on the board of directors for Bethesda Academy, Emmaus House, and Buy Local Savannah, and on the Advisory Board for the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum. She also serves as treasurer for the Savannah Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
Born and raised in Savannah, Rachelle is a summa cum laude graduate of Spelman College and holds a master’s in communication management from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. She and her husband, Frederick Gregory, Ph.D., have three children and are proud to be raising their family in their hometown.
