Tom Nida's banking career dates back to 1967 as a college freshman and has been centered on community development and banking for the past 40 years. During that time, he has organized a successful downtown revitalization program; preserved a Civil War battlefield site; founded a community development bank; created a leadership program for a regional bank; and renovated historic properties in several small towns in Virginia and West Virginia.
An interest in education led to a mayoral appointment to the DC Public Charter School Board, which he chaired for six years, and he has for many years been on the board of a national nonprofit focused on financing charter school facilities. Tom is also on several nonprofit boards, and is a senior adviser to CDBA in its effort to create the Community Development Banking Institute.
Tom has played the drums since he was a teenager and plays regularly at his church.
